Next Generation Electronic Journal (NGEJ)

NGEJ is an electronic register of fiscal transactions created to store information on sale transactions made with the use of POSNET fiscal printers. It allows to centrally collect, analyse, and reprint receipts from each of fiscal printers connected to the system.

Product description

Each retailer chain operating regionally or across Poland sometimes needs to restore copies of fiscal transactions — receipts from a printer located outside of the company’s headquarters. In old models of two-station printers it is possible exclusively by manually searching through paper rolls with receipt copies. Advanced single-station fiscal printers store receipts in the form of electronic copies saved on an SD (or microSD) card. Such a solution, however, poses two basic problems:

  1. Every card may fail, so it is still necessary to regularly create a card backup (usually once a day).
  2. A memory card is still located at some distance from the company’s headquarters and its content needs to be copied and then sent to the headquarters in a file.

NGEJ (Next Generation Electronic Journal) system has been designed to eliminate these two inconveniences.

How does it work?

NGEJ works with every POSNET single-station fiscal printer with Ethernet and connected to the shop’s network. NGEJ is installed on the server (at the company’s headquarters, in a co-location, or in the cloud). It is not necessary to install any additional software in shops or on checkouts to which the printers are connected. NGEJ communicates directly with all fiscal printers in specified intervals and downloads receipts registered on them. The whole operation is performed incrementally, which means that only the receipts saved from the last data download are fetched. No data saved on cards in printers is modified during data downloading.

Downloaded data is stored on the NGEJ server and can be accessed from a computer or tablet with the use of a web browser. Access authorization is possible via a system of passwords or with the integration with Active Directory service.

Why do I need it?

Central receipt repository of NGEJ server can be used for many purposes, depending on your needs:

  1. as a backup of fiscal transactions useful in case of memory card or printer loss
  2. to quickly create VAT registers and reports (separately from used sale or finance and accounting systems)
  3. to review receipts and daily reports on a computer screen
  4. to reprint receipts
  5. to search for receipts with set criteria (e.g. date, product, point of sale, transaction value)
  6. for analytical purposes

NGEJ also allows you to manage fiscal printers in the company by:

  1. creating a register of fiscal devices divided into locations, with serial numbers and a possibility to track the history of using these devices in points of sale
  2. controlling the communication status with a printer and the date of last data download
  3. analysing system performance, taking into account data downloading time and the time needed to store information
